Alan Dain Samples died unexpectedly Wednesday evening in
Cincinnati's University Hospital.
He was currently serving as Assistant Professor at the
University of Cincinnati. He was teaching a
computer science class when he collapsed
with what was later determined to be
a spontaneous aortic dissection.
He studied at Indiana University,
Milligan College (TN),
IUPUI and Purdue University.
He Received his Ph.D. in Computer Science
from the University of California
at Berkeley in 1991.
He attended Boones Creek High School and
University High School in Johnson City, Tennessee.
He was a 1969 graduate of
Washington High School in Indianapolis.
He is survived by his wife
Patricia Ann McColpin Samples;
twin sons, Ehren John and
Galen Macesten (14 months);
parents John C. Samples and Joyce Samples,
all of Cincinnati,
and by one brother,
John Wayne Samples,
